We have compiled the results from the survey sent to graduating seniors. We received responses from 70% of the students. The survey options were as follows: Option 1- to hold graduation on Saturday at UGA Conference Center; and Option 2 - to hold graduation on Thursday evening at Brodie Field. Option 1 received 87 votes (23.39%), and Option 2 received 285 votes (76.61%).
As a result, we will hold the 2024 graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 16th at Brodie Field. The processional will begin at 6:45pm. Gates to the stadium will open at 6:00pm. All guests are asked to be seated by 6:40pm, prior to the processional.
There is a mandatory practice for all graduates tomorrow morning at 9:00am at Brodie Field. Any student who does not attend the mandatory practice will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
Some of this year’s graduates have expressed a desire to be able to walk across Brodie Field instead of holding the ceremony inside on Saturday as announced. We are seeking your input for this year’s graduation ceremony to ensure we have a broader representation of the student body’s desires.
Please understand the rationale for making the decision to move graduation to the UGA Conference Center. We have had multiple discussions with the Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service. Current weather predictions have rain beginning on Friday afternoon and continuing through the afternoon on Saturday. In addition to the rain being a consideration, we also recognize that families have out of town guests who were planning to join for the festivities on Saturday. Changing the day of the ceremony could impact families in ways we could not predict, and we recognize graduation is a point of celebration for students as well as families.
A survey has been sent out to all seniors. Each graduating senior gets one vote, votes from non graduates will be disregarded. You must be logged into your school Google account to respond. Please select from one of the two choices below. Due to the urgency in making this decision, voting will close at 6:45pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024

Seniors,
Due to the inclement weather, we have been working to make some alternate plans for graduation practice in an effort to preserve the field.
Tuesday - NO ELEMENTARY WALK-THROUGHS
Wednesday - Practice will be held in the Tift County High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 9:00 am. Please park in the student parking lot (carpool if possible!) and find your advisor in the small lot in front of the PAC. THIS PRACTICE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PRACTICE!
Thursday - Practice will be held at Brodie Field at 9:00 am. More information will be given on Wednesday at practice.
Please, please, please continue to check your email regularly. We are continuing to monitor the weather and field conditions, and we will continue to keep you updated.
Thank you,
Dr. Hughes and Ms. Gunn
