Tift County Schools is proud to announce that Mrs. Lia Taylor, a first-grade teacher at Matt Wilson Elementary, has been named the 2025 Teacher Hero Award recipient, an honor sponsored by Grace Ed Technologies.
Selected from a pool of nominations submitted by parents and co-workers, Mrs. Taylor was surprised with the award in her classroom today. The presentation was led by Tatum Gerrells, representing Grace Ed Technologies, alongside Mrs. Taylor’s students, family, school administrators, and district leaders.
Mrs. Taylor exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional educator and role model. She is the kind of teacher every parent hopes for—compassionate, dedicated, and deeply skilled in her profession.
Known for her energy and heart, Mrs. Taylor brings creativity and engagement to every lesson. Her teaching style makes learning fun and accessible, while her genuine care for each child fosters a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment. She goes above and beyond to ensure every student feels supported, confident, and motivated to succeed.
Her individualized guidance and ability to connect with students—especially those facing academic challenges—have left a lasting impact. One parent shared, “I’ve never trusted a teacher with my child as much as I do Mrs. Taylor. I wish I could pack her up and take her to every grade with us.” Another added, “Without her, my daughter would be struggling with her math and reading, but now she is prospering.”
Tift County Schools is honored to recognize Mrs. Lia Taylor for her outstanding contributions to education. Her compassion, creativity, and commitment to student growth make her truly deserving of the 2025 Teacher Hero Award. She is, without question, a teacher hero—the kind that inspires not only students, but everyone around her.
Congratulations, Mrs. Taylor!
